I have learned a lot about taking and editing photos over this term ( and the year). This term I really explored with different Photoshop and camera settings to try and change up my photos. I also got a chance to try out the macro, fish eye and telephoto lenses which I hadn't used before. I really liked using the macro lens because I really like floral photography so it allowed me to get really up close on the flowers.
This term I think I've made progress with trying out and experiment with the different camera settings. Before I stuck to the shutter speed mode, but this term I used the aperture mode, program and even manual to take some of my photos.
This term because of some of the projects we did, such as the Soundtrack of My Life and the Social Justice project, I've learned to look for the deeper meaning behind the photos I look at to see if the photographer is trying to say something else other than what is just present. It's almost like analyzing a poem and seeing what the connotations are behind the photograph.
I'm also proud by much my Photoshop skills have improved. Also, since I took graphics this year I learned more about Photoshop. Last year I didn't even use Photoshop for editing photos because it was so complex. I had mainly relied on iPhoto to edit my photos, which I will admit sometimes didn't make them look the best. At the beginning of the year I started using the curves, brightness and contrast settings. Now, and especially from watching Manjot all year, have gone outside my comfort zone and really tried out a lot of the different settings.
This year I really feel like I am able to take a strong photo and be able to adjust my camera settings due to the lighting, how fast or slow my subjects moving etc. I think my photo skills have really progressed and improved since last year when I first started taking photo till now.
